What information do we collect? 

The information that we collect includes your name, delivery address, billing address, email, and credit/debit card details. We may also ask for your telephone number, which enables us to contact you urgently if there is a problem with your order.

Why do we collect this information? 

We use this information so we can: 

  • process your order and deliver the goods that you have ordered 
  • send updates regarding the status of your enquiry or order 
  • perform general marketing and promotional activities focused on the products you purchased from this site 

Who might we share this information with? 

We will not, without your consent, supply any of your personal data to any third party – except where: 

  • the transfer is to a secure data processor, which carries out data processing operations on our behalf 
  • we are required to do so by law enforcement or regulatory bodies where this is required or allowed under the relevant legislation 

Your e-mail address will be used for our marketing purposes unless you unsubscribe. It is possible to unsubscribe at any time. If you do not wish to receive information about our products or services. We also give you an opportunity to consent to receiving fundraising or campaign communication. Your contact details will be shared with the charity Shelter and Shelter Scotland who are owners of Shelter Trading Limited., you can unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link which appears in every marketing email. You may also contact our supporter help desk at info@shelter.org.uk or 0344 515 1234 to change your marketing status.  

This information will be used by Shelter Trading Limited. We do not share this data outside of Shelter. We will make sure your details are safe, secure, and only used for the limited purpose you have provided them to us. 

We will never share or sell your personal data to a third-party organisation for marketing, fundraising, or campaigning purposes. 

Use of data processors 

We may use a third-party company to manage mailing for sending out purchased products, fundraising appeals, campaigns, conduct research surveys, or storage of your personal information on our behalf. We actively screen these companies to maximise the protection of your privacy and security. They are only permitted to use the data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, under strict instructions from Shelter. 

What do we do with this information? 

This information will be used so that we can complete the delivery of the goods you have ordered and contact you regarding your order. 

If you have consented to communications regarding fundraising or campaigns, then the charities will also use this information for those communications. 

If you decide you do not want us to contact you, you can request that we stop using your information and that we stop mailing information to you by contacting our supporter helpdesk at 0300 330 1234 or info@Shelter.org.uk.

You may continue to receive mailings which are already on route to you for a short period of time while your request is being dealt with. 

How long do we keep hold of this information? 

This information will be held for a maximum of six years after this or any subsequent interaction that you have with Shelter Trading Limited or our Charity Owners.

How can I access the information you hold about me? 

You have the right under the Data Protection Act to know what information we hold about you and to ask, in writing, to see your records. 

We will supply any information you ask for that we hold about you as soon as possible, but this may take up to 40 days. We will not charge you for this. You will be asked for proof of identity as the person dealing with your request may not be the staff member you have met before. We need to be sure we are only releasing your personal data to you.
